Placentia news today: Military Banner Recognition Program

Applications for the 2023 installation of the Placentia Military Banner Recognition Program are now being accepted.

The program, known as Placentia "Hometown Heroes," honors and recognizes locals from Placentia California who are presently serving in the United States Armed Forces or who have received an honorable discharge.

The Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines, National Guard, Navy, and Space Force are among the service branches. The honorees must currently reside in Placentia or have an immediate family member (parent, spouse, child, grandparent, son, or daughter) who does.

According to the Placentia Orange County discretion, the banner will be erected at Kraemer Boulevard and Yorba Linda Boulevard (You can read more at placentia.org), where it will be visible for a period of two years.

Banners that are stolen, damaged, or destroyed by the sun, weather, vandalism, or any other act of nature beyond our control, such as strong winds, will not be replaced by the City. The banner will be given to the person listed on the banner application when the display term has ended.

Applications are currently being accepted through October 21st, allowing time for the banners to be ordered and installed during the month of November.

The cost to display each customized banner is $260, and each service person is allowed one banner. Applications can be submitted to the Placentia Police Department.
